Position Summary : Instruct Adult Basic Education (ABE) / General Educational Development (GED) classes for adult learners within Johnson County Adult Education (JCAE) to help students achieve academic success, including earning their high school diploma and developing job readiness skills.

- May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise.
- Assists with management decisions and activities.
- Working knowledge of team function within the organization.

Position Details : Job duties include but are not limited to :
- Design, develop, and implement new curricula to comply with funding requirements and continuously improve instruction and outcomes.
- Train and mentor new ABE and GED instructors and assist the ABE / GED Program Coordinator with teacher observations and coaching.
- Onboard, train, observe, develop, supervise, and coach employees and support the ABE / GED Program Coordinator in observing / coaching instructors and teachers to improve their performance.
- Teach at least one class per semester of adult learners in ABE / GED, assisting students to complete their high school diploma and transition to college or into career placement.
- Evaluate students’ entry-level Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores and align them with the program curriculum to develop individualized plans of study.
- Monitor program requirements and best practices and proactively evaluate, adapt, and refine ABE / GED curricula to address new regulatory requirements and expectations, student needs, and best practices, ensuring that all curricula align with JCCC, state, and national requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and policies for JCAE, including the design and facilitation of training. -
- Assist in the creation and implementation of special projects, such as the JCAE Graduation Ceremony, JCAE marketing and fundraising campaigns, and curriculum-related specialty events and materials.
- Assist the ABE / GED Program Coordinator with the design and implementation of professional development opportunities for instructors.
- Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
