Department
of Communication Sciences and Special Education (CSSE) invites applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor with expertise in Speech-Language Pathology.
This position is clinical, instructional, and collaborative. The position focuses primarily on clinical instruction and supervision for master’s students who are learning to work with clients across the lifespan and who have a range of communication and swallowing needs.
The successful candidate will also work closely with faculty, staff, and community members. This is a -month, non-tenure-track faculty position to begin Spring Semester 5.
Responsibilities will include all of the following and other related assignments :
- Clinical education and supervision of graduate students, including students learning to provide high-quality evidence-based services for a wide range of clients and families
- Coordinating clinical placements for student internships
- Collaborating with program coordinator and clinic director to coordinate graduate clinical education experiences
- Overseeing preparation of graduate students for licensure and certification in speech-language pathology
- Instruction of clinical and / or academic material
- Interprofessional collaboration
- Engaging in departmental, college, university, community, and / or professional service
- Provision of direct speech-language pathology clinical services
Additional Requirements
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Documentation from ASHA that the applicant has met the 0 ASHA certification standards for providing clinical instruction and supervision
- Five years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology
- One year of experience in clinical instruction or supervision of Clinical Fellows, interns, pre-service student clinicians, or SLP Assistants
- Current state licensure or equivalent credential to practice speech-language pathology in the candidate’s state of residence, and eligible to hold Georgia SLP licensure before Jan. 1, 5.
- Six months experience serving as a liaison with off-campus supervisors
- Candidates with a master’s degree must document exceptional accomplishments in communication disorders, speech-language pathology, or a related field and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.
Relevant / Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and / or Certification
- Three or more years in clinical instruction or supervision of Clinical Fellows, interns, pre-service student clinicians, or SLP Assistants
- Two or more years of clinical experience in one or more of the following areas : neurogenic communication disorders, dysphagia, literacy, aural rehabilitation, clinical coordination
- Two or more years providing services to bilingual or multilingual clients and families
