JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director / Director of In-Home Services. The RN is responsible for overall operation of the In-Home Personal Care program in their assigned area.

This position is responsible for supervision of the county’s In-Home Service staff and for assessing the activities of daily living needs of all eligible clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Assess and reassess needs of IHS clients, complete the care plan and other necessary paperwork for Non-Medicaid, Medicaid, and ElderChoice Programs

2.Make and complete supervisory home visits to clients every 60 days

3.Supervise In-Home Service staff in assigned area

4.Assist Caseworker in completing paperwork for interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and terminating Personal Care Assistants according to program guidelines

5.Review personal care assistant / client sheet (time sheet) bi-weekly

6.Makes every effort to insure minorities, low-income, and rural senior citizens are served

7.Make referrals as necessary to other services

8.Coordinate services with other agencies

9.Maintain good public relations with other providers and physicians in the area

10.Promote the personal care services within the assigned area

11.Promote and supervise Private Pay Programs

12.Promote and supervise Non-durable Goods Programs

13.Responsible for maintaining complete records on all clients

14.Responsible for providing current information for personnel files on all the In-Home Service staff in assigned area

15.Observe code of ethics and rules of confidentiality

16.Adhere to agency policies and procedures as stated in the agency personnel policy and personal care assistant manual

17.Attend staff meetings and in-service meetings as requested

18.Assist Training RN in planning and implementing personal care assistant in-service trainings as required by regulation

19.Serves as I & A liaison between our agency and other agencies while providing accurate information to callers, walk-ins, and clients in both written and verbal form

20.Assists in insuring both resource files and resource directory are current and up-dated at all times

21.Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of health problems and needs of the elderly.

Knowledge of services available.

Ability to assess health needs of the elderly.

Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing.

Ability to plan, supervise, and coordinate the work of others.

Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

Ability to manage vigorous work schedule.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds during course of assigned work.

Have an active health card within 30 days from date of employment and yearly thereafter.

Must be able to drive and provide own transportation.

Have automobile liability insurance and a current driver’s license. Provide main office with updated copies yearly as appropriate.

Must have good corrected vision and hearing (unless ADA applies and reasonable accommodations can be made).

Ability to perform duties in accordance with safety guidelines

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working environment is divided between an office setting and a home setting, with frequent travel to client’s homes in all types of weather.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

JOB CLASSIFICATION : Exempt

Information regarding a client of this agency shall not be released to any source outside of this agency without the signed permission of the client.

Furthermore, information will only be released internally on a need-to-know basis. Employee will not discuss client cases outside the office or with anyone not employed by this agency unless they are directly involved with the patient’s case.

Additional Information

Full-time; hourly; Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm

  • $55,000 annual
  • 12 paid holidays, 12 paid vacation leave, 12 paid sick leave first year of employment.

Basic Qualifications

Must be registered by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as a registered nurse.

Must have the formal education equivalent to an associate degree, diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing.

At least two years experience in nursing with one year experience as a supervisor or manager preferred.

Ability to do multi-tasking with minimal errors

Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time

Ability to grasp, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb and move about freely

Ability to travel both short and long distances

Ability to move objects weighing up to 25 lbs from one area to another
