Sr. Quality Assurance Manager

This facility has 3 key lines for ingredients. 120+ headcount at the factory.

A production focused Sr. Quality Manager is ideal boots on the ground’ mentality. Ability to have a visible presence in the facility while also engaging at high level with Plant Manager, Director(s), and other cross-functional leadership throughout the organization.

This Sr. Q.A. Manager role will oversee 3 direct reports.

The Sr. Manager of Quality and Food Safety has oversight of these teams and ensures alignment of quality best practices, continuous improvement, and strategic department initiatives.

Responsibilities :

  • Coach, lead and supervise all QA personnel constantly raising the standard of performance. Establish development programs for employees including SOP’s, quality specifications, safety and job expectations
  • Manage laboratory budget and identify opportunities to reduce costs / improve margins
  • Provide analytical results on customer complaints in a timely manner. Interact with customers as needed on complaint investigation and resolution.

Professionally represent the company on quality matters with vendors and customers

  • Assist operations with establishing procedures and supervising all product and process development and test runs, reporting all results
  • Drive culture change by leading as example with positive attitude and innovative thinking to contribute to department goals
  • Implement and monitor the company’s Quality Assurance Program at the facility according to established policies and procedures and assuring the accuracy of data
  • Establish quality assurance specifications for finished products, in process testing and ingredients and ensure that these specifications are met and adhered to by production personnel
  • Establish quality specifications for incoming raw materials with Purchasing, monitoring these raw materials to ensure that specifications are met

Other Focus Points of Role :

  • Manage inventory of materials
  • Conduct internal and vendor and manufacturing audits as required
  • Ensure compliance with all company, state, federal and international safety and regulatory policies and practices as appropriate
  • Remain current on matters relating to production methods, formulations, analytical techniques and federal regulations as they relate to the company’s products.

Make recommendations for improvement as necessary

  • Educate production personnel in the monitoring of product quality. This includes the proper cleaning of production equipment and warehouse areas, performing sanitation audits and monitoring proper closure of bags and storage methods
  • Coordinate pest control services
  • Development of specification compliance, operator training and development, quality testing of ingredients and finished products, labeling, and complaint handling

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred
  • 3+ years in Quality minimum, can include transfer into quality from other manufacturing manager roles
  • 5+ years’ experience in supervisor management of people and teams
  • Prior SQF, BRC, FSMA, PCQI, GMP is highly preferred
  • Training Auditing Skills helpful
  • Food Defense Training, Pest Control helpful
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
