In pursuit of this mission, we are expanding our team and hiring two Mental Health Clinicians. We are committed to creating innovative solutions and implementing effective projects that address mental health challenges within the Lansing School District.

Under the direction of the Director of Mental Health, and in accordance with current policies and procedures, the Mental Health Clinicians will provide therapeutic services to students in the Lansing School District.

Mental Health Clinicians provide student assessments, therapy, consultation, case planning, crisis response, social emotional / skills groups and work with master level student interns completing clinical internship.

Qualifications

  • Approval by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) as one of the following : licensed / limited license master's level social worker, licensed / limited license professional counselor or a licensed psychologist
  • One or more year of experience in behavioral health providing direct support for children, adolescents, and / or adults is required.
  • Knowledge of theoretical content in treatment modes for mental health practice and ability to apply these to a school-based setting.
  • Demonstrated skills and successful experience in counseling / therapy with individuals, groups of students and their families.
  • Knowledge of state and federal mandates which directly affect mental health services.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with administrators, staff, community agencies, medical providers, students and their families.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high stress situations.
  • Self-directedness, flexibility and initiative when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks.
  • Ability to make decisions and problem solve within a team of service providers.
  • Knowledge of resources available to students and their families.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health services in assigned schools (PreK-12)
  • Facilitate group treatment for identified students
  • Administer behavioral health assessments, in conjunction with the development and implementation of individual treatment plans and goals.
  • Act as a liaison between the school, family and community mental health resources, ensuring effective communication and support for eligible students
  • Complete and maintain confidential documentation of services provided in accordance with district policies and procedures
  • Collect and analyze data related to the mental health of individuals on your caseload
  • Provide crisis response and direct support to students, staff and families
  • Other tasks / duties as needed in order to best serve the Lansing School District students
