Job purpose
The purpose of this position is to ensure the quality of the assembled and packaged product, accuracy of work entry transactions, maintain inventory accuracy, maintain material supply and organization, and maintain production flow throughout the packaging process.
Duties and responsibilities
- Perform beginning of shift activities on assigned Photo Packaging or Card Packaging line as directed.
- Coordinate operator’s assignments to ensure uninterrupted operation of the assigned Photo Packaging line.
- Take an active role in quality control activities :
- Check and authorize assembly and packaging setups.
- Generate Photo / Card PKG Job / Process Check Sheet.
- Ensure Paper and Ribbon are issued to each job.
- Ensure Jobs are pre-staged to create a continuous flow of products.
- Act on all non-conformances found.
- Report any discrepancies to management and / or QA.
- Ability to perform full duties and functions of each position on the assigned Photo Packaging / Card Packaging line in the absence of the operator.
- Actively participate in all improvement plans such as 5S, and kaizen.
- Maintain material supply and organization.
- Coordinate and monitor the flow of raw materials in and out of production.
- Coordinate and monitor the flow of WIP and finished goods.
- Coordinate and assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and processes.
- Assist with new operator training and cross-training of existing operators.
- Perform inspections and monitoring of all production activities to ensure the safety of the operation.
- Ensure team member paperwork is properly completed and maintained.
- Perform operator duties as needed.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Preferred : Associate's Degree in a technical field, H.S. diploma required.
- Demonstrated high performance as an operator or previous experience in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated high performance as a packer (1 year), or previous experience in a leadership role.
- Excellent attendance and communication skills.
- Demonstrated reliability and responsibility.
- Proven Decision-Making Skills and analytical skills
- Proven leadership skills
- Perform mathematical calculations including percentages, multiplication, and division.
- Operate a personal computer (PC) and software relevant to the job.
- Must be able to work in a team-based, high-stress production environment.
- Must have adequate vision to inspect products for small defects and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time and prioritize appropriately.
- Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will direct work assignments and communicate with the GL / supervisor regarding team members’ performance.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit / stand / walk for at least 12 hours at a time
- Must be able to push / pull / lift at least 45lbs. individually and 50 lbs. with the help of a team member
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, or crawl to get between or under machinery.
- Abilit to use a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc.
Safety Requirements
Ability to wear required PPE (including safety glasses, gloves (nitrile, canvas, etc.) hearing protection (if needed), ANSI - approved footwear, and other items as required in the manufacturing area.
