GENERAL JOB SUMMARY :

The Signature Management and Survivability Engineer will participate / lead a wide variety of tasks and explorations in electromagnetics.

Primary focus is the development of low RCS hardware and systems. This includes predictions, design, measurements, analysis, fabrication, communication, and documentation.

The signature management and survivability engineer will be given design assignments and expected to perform rigorous efforts to reach a solution that meets or exceeds requirements.

Requirements are not limited to radar backscatter, but also include weight, allowable materials, cost, schedule and customer expectations.

Will work in integrated teams to incorporate advanced signature control techniques into products and aid in the assessment of system performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels Signature Management and Survivability Engineer. Each level has additional duties and responsibilities listed.

  • Understand and exploit physics / electromagnetics to engineer new novel and break through methods to deliver difficult hardware and systems attributes.
  • It is expected you will gain knowledge, experience, and engineering culture as you progress, such that understand electromagnetics phenomena at an intuitive level.
  • Ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices / principles necessary to assess advanced radar backscattering.
  • Understands various programmatics of projects (schedule, costs, procurement activity)
  • The developed experience in customer / client interaction and coordination. Includes the ability to perceive customer needs, develop a compelling technical approach to meeting those needs, clearly and concisely describe a plan for implementing the technical approach, and provide reasonable cost / schedule estimates for the work needed.
  • Electromagnetic resource / lead for design through production of low observable hardware manufactured from composite and metallic materials.
  • Develop and implement advanced technology to reduce the detectability of aircraft in the electromagnetic, infrared, visual and acoustic spectrums.
  • Integrates hardware into complex, tightly packaged assemblies.
  • Prepares and reviews formal, controlled engineering documentation (drawings, specifications, parts lists and interface control documents).
  • Understands and follows Configuration Control.
  • Takes unique requirements and through decomposition, and expectations of programs / customers forges these into realizable products.
  • Works in an integrated team closely coupled with engineers of other disciplines to optimize the integration of this technology on existing and future vehicles.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative / team settings across all levels.

Signature Management and Survivability Engineer I

  • Basic understanding of electromagnetics, radar backscattering, and RF propagation.
  • Basic understanding of materials and phenomena of dielectrics, microwave absorbers, and classic structures.
  • Understanding of radar cross section reduction (RCSR) or radio-frequency (RF) antenna design / integration.
  • Will take direction for experienced RCS engineers.
  • Provide Test Engineering support for Radar Cross Section (RCS) test facilities.
  • Follows test plans generated by lead signature management and survivability engineers.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods for composite materials and machined metallic hardware is highly desired.
  • Understands aerospace manufacturing documentation types, QA / QE.
  • Experience with scientific modeling & simulation, and optimization.
  • CAD software literacy for model cleanup and meshing.
  • Participates in data analysis.

Signature Management and Survivability Engineer II

  • Signature Management and Survivability Engineer I tasks.
  • Knowledge of RADAR, RF materials, RF material measurements.
  • Experience with radar cross section reduction (RCSR) or radio-frequency (RF) antenna design / integration.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices / principles necessary to assess advanced radar systems concepts, specifications and perform system integration.
  • Develop and implement predictive analysis codes; build and test physical models; design, develop and build test and verification equipment;

and develop, test and integrate specialty materials.

  • Experience with Computational electromagnetics (CEM) codes and optimization for LO applications.
  • CAD software literacy for model cleanup and meshing.
  • Understands & uses electromagnetics engineering terminology.
  • Participates in test planning.
  • Ensures data acquisition and storage. Completes test logs, and other test documentation.
  • Collaborate with design engineering for test and hardware improvements.
  • Low Observable (LO) test article configuration, mounting and testing.
  • Prepares initial data analysis and data quality metrics.
  • CAM training and duties for project / program.

Signature Management and Survivability Engineer III

  • Signature Management and Survivability Engineer II tasks.
  • Absorber material treatments / design and testing experience (coatings, paint, MAGRAM)
  • Experience with LO vehicles, treatment application, integration considerations.
  • Experience with design for additive manufacturing.
  • Expertise in LO modeling and predictions with experience using Computational electromagnetics (CEM) codes.
  • Solid technical radar background with knowledge of radar range equations, radar signal processing and radar electromagnetic concepts.
  • Expert level understanding of radar test ranges, diagnostic radars
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices / principles necessary to assess advanced radar scattering from concepts, designs, and hardware.
  • Solid technical background as demonstrated by certifiable experience formulating opinions, decisions and ultimate performance of the tasks specified in a contract statement of work.
  • Knowledgeable in systems engineering principles and able to prepare designs in accordance with customer requirements and derived engineering requirements.
  • Prepares test plans, test procedures and reports.
  • Responsible for leading signature reduction trade studies and optimization campaigns for both platform-level and detailed component-level designs
  • The candidate will be expected to develop and implement R&D plans to meet needs defined by management or by the customer.
  • An ability to explain complex technical concepts in a readily comprehensible manner is an advantage.
  • Experience with research and development (R&D) as well as improvements and derivatives (I&D).

Signature Management and Survivability Engineer IV

  • Signature Management and Survivability engineer III tasks.
  • Ten (10) years of engineering experience, which must include Low Observable (LO) technology.
  • RCS / electromagnetics lead.
  • Demonstrated out of the box thinking.
  • Experience with multiple types of radar systems (bi-static, sensors, radar data fusion; and radar signal processing).
  • Demonstrated successful execution of portions of programs.
  • Understands program capture, execution, transition, and culture transformations.
  • Shares responsible for low observable technology maturation lifecycle from initial concept, internal research and development (IRAD) project implementation, modeling and simulation, optimization, prototype build and test, external customer communication and marketing, proposal and contract capture, contract research and development (CRAD) leadership, and transition to production fleet.
  • Able to work self-guided under only general direction will minimal technical direction and in small and large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participates in Government forums and internal program.
  • Experience with LO integration / multi-discipline air vehicle systems design.
  • Shared responsibility for cultivation, pursuit, capture, project or program management, and execution of signature technology IRAD & CRAD projects.
  • Experience managing LO focused projects and groups (schedule, costs, procurement activity.)

Signature Management and Survivability Engineer V

  • Signature Management and Survivabilityengineer IV tasks.
  • Fifteen (15) years of engineering experience, to include Low Observable (LO) technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of signal processing and Electronic Protection ( Counter-Counter Measures)
  • RCS / electromagnetics lead. Must be recognized expert in LO, CLO, testing, materials, CEM, and design.
  • Multiple successful demonstrations of out of the box thinking transitioned into successful solutions.
  • Experience with all types of radar systems including bi-static, sensors, radar data fusion; and radar signal processing highly desired.
  • Demonstrated successful program capture, execution, transition, and culture transformations.
  • Fully responsible for low observable technology maturation lifecycle from initial concept, internal research and development (IRAD) project implementation, modeling and simulation, optimization, prototype build and test, external customer communication and marketing, proposal and contract capture, contract research and development (CRAD) leadership, and transition to production fleet.
  • Able to work self-guided under only general direction will minimal technical direction and direct the focus / engineering of small and large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead / Participate in Government forums and internal program reviews as a recognized LO signature expert and resource.
  • Significant experience with LO integration / multi-discipline vehicle systems design, cultivation of opportunities, pursuit, capture, program management.
  • Instrumental in push / pull launch signature technology IRAD & CRAD projects.
  • Diverse and extensive experience managing all phases LO focused programs (schedule, costs, procurement activity).
  • Demonstrated excellent customer relations, speaking, team building, team identification, and streamlining.
