Reporting to the Director of TRIO, the counselor's role will be instrumental in guiding and empowering high school students for their journey into higher education. The counselor will assess their academic abilities, facilitate social-emotional learning activities, and aid in career exploration. They will recruit participants and set individualized goals for their academic, personal, and financial success. Organizing educational excursions and conducting informative sessions, the counselor will assist students with college applications, financial aid, and ensure they receive necessary support. Building positive relationships with school stakeholders and community partners, the counselor will advocate for equity and inclusion initiatives while representing our program and university professionally. The counselor must have an enthusiasm for working with high school students and a passion for student success.
