SUMMARY : The purpose of this position is to assist customers with auto registration renewals, transfer auto titles, issue disability placards, order special plates, and issue temporary tags to Rockwall County residents.
This is accomplished by knowing the RTS computer system, having a working knowledge of the Texas Motor Vehicle Laws and other applicable laws, and being able to answer questions for residents.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Assists customers by renewing vehicle registrations, issuing disability placards, answering questions for customers, creating new records for out of state customers and non-titled trailers.
- Answers phones and responds to questions about documents, laws, and procedures; contacts the Texas DMV Regional Service Center regarding questions and clarification regarding state law and title questions.
- Responds to emails from customers or dealers.
- Pick up and deliver mail when necessary.
- Process boat transfers and renewals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY / BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position has no supervisory or budget responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and state laws, rules, codes and regulations and County policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook and department-specific software.
- Skill to operate other standard office equipment, including keyboard, 10 key, fax machines, etc.
- Skill to be self-disciplined and self-motivated to work alone and with others.
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service to other County employees and the general public.
- Bilingual preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Position is located in an office environment with little or no exposure to environmental conditions. Health and safety hazards are minimal.
No protective equipment is required. Fine dexterity, sitting, and vision are constantly required. Frequently, talking, reaching and handling are required.
Occasionally, standing, lifting, carrying, climbing, bending and walking are required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
