This position supports the classroom teachers by carrying out daily tasks associated with caring for young children (0-5) such as diapering, feeding, supervising, playing, cleaning, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Negative TB test

Cleared criminal background check

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Child Development / Early Childhood coursework.
  • Experience working with groups of children birth to five (5) years old in a volunteer or paid capacity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned children at all times
  • Assist assigned classroom teacher in carrying out their classroom and caregiving responsibilities with groups of children between birth and 5 years old
  • Perform diapering changing / assistance in toileting, dressing, sleeping and classroom routines
  • Assist with planning and implementing learning experiences based on child observations.
  • Acknowledge children, families and guests as they enter / leave the classroom
  • Disinfect and sanitize surfaces / environments / toys
  • Sit or hold (as age appropriate) with children during meals and snacks, model appropriate manners and social protocols and engage in meaningful conversations
  • Engage children in play and conversation
  • Extend children's play
  • Assist in food preparation, sanitation etc. & complete required documentation and records
  • Interact with children modeling soft voice, positive attitude, patience, neatness, good manners, appropriate behavior and enthusiasm and encourage this attitude and voice in others working in the classroom and all program settings
  • Become familiar with each child's individualized program or behavior plan
  • Assist teachers in appropriate disciplinary strategies as outlined in CCDP policies and procedures
  • 14. Assist teachers in involving parents and all enrolled children in classroom and program activities
  • Support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of each child
  • Collect supplies for children's activities and classroom functions prior to needing them (gloves, tissues, office supplies);

  • Immediately report knowledge of parent concerns / questions to team Specialist, Associate, Program Manager, Director or closing supervisor.
  • Stay current on Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
  • Work according to a schedule determined by the Program Manager. Schedule and assignments may vary.
  • Must be responsible, able to handle confidential material, able to organize effectively and work independently
  • Maintain program spaces, classroom and outside environments to ensure safe, healthy and pleasing spaces
  • Assist all other colleagues as assigned (answering phones, making copies, doing laundry, running errands, etc.)
  • Maintain an open, friendly and cooperative relationship with each colleague, volunteer, child, family and visitor
  • Provide daily verbal and written communication to parents as directed by full time classroom staff.
  • Work effectively with other colleagues to promote teamwork, maintain professionalism and continuously sustain a positive environment
  • Protect all children at all times from physical punishment or verbal abuse by anyone in any program activity; and immediately reports any such incident to the center director, supervisor or person in charge
  • Attend all required training and meetings, special events, etc. as needed
  • Complete a minimum of 24 professional development-training hours annually.
  • Complete and maintain all documents in a timely manner as required
  • Maintain all program procedures / policies / standards according to National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Child Care Licensing (CCL), Health Department, Fire Department, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Program Handbook and any other funding or regulatory agency regulations
  • Assist to maintain organization and cleanliness in storage facilities, closets, drawers, etc.
  • Maintain and support a system of written and verbal confidentiality for documents, classrooms, children, families and colleague
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Model professionalism for colleague such as working cooperatively with colleagues and continuing one's own professional development.

  • Project enthusiasm for program goals, philosophy, relationships, and job responsibilities
  • Consistently arrive to work on time and maintain the assigned daily schedule
  • In addition to all other duties, anyone working for CCDP has the primary responsibility for the health and safety of children, colleagues, parents and volunteers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, designee or Director.

Additional Information

Monday Friday availability at least three days from 3 : 00 p.m.-6 : 30 p.m. Preferred five days a week from 3 : 00 p.m.-6 : 30 p.m.

Vaccine Requirements :
