Responsibilities Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential psychiatric services for adolescents including behavioral, emotional and psychiatric interventions.
Our treatment philosophy is based on trauma-informed care principles and offers distinct progressive phases of care. The English / Language Arts teacher will structure a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the varied needs and interest of the students.
The teacher will use their knowledge of student development to be flexible and responsive to student learning by adjusting lessons, responding to student individual needs, and persisting in providing a variety of approaches when students have difficulties.
Knowledge of ESE process as all students acquire an IEP while in the Hospital / Homebound setting. The Hospital / Homebound school within the facility contracts with the Manatee County school district to provide a small classroom educational environment to residential patients.
A 4 : 1 student to staff ratio is maintained throughout the school day for behavior support in the classroom with additional support from on-site psychiatrists, a board certified behavior analyst, therapists and a full medical team.
We follow required state and county rules and regulations for a Hospital / Homebound site. Teachers are employees of the facility and not under a teacher contract / re-negotiation.

Certification : Florida Department of Education certification for English (6-12) or eligibility statement. ESE certification required or ability to meet this requirement.
Knowledge of educational theories and classroom teaching strategies. Ability to work with multi-level / multi-grade students in small class environment.
Computer literacy. Commitment to facility mission and policies Additional Requirements : Knowledge of computers. Must adhere to all facility and school board policies.
