DIESEL SHOP FOREMAN

As a Shop Foreman, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the shop. You will be responsible for supervising a team of mechanics, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner.

Your strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities will contribute to the success of the shop and the satisfaction of our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and manage a team of mechanics / technicians, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  • Allocate work assignments to technicians and ensure that work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Monitor and review the progress of work orders, ensuring that deadlines are met and any issues or delays are promptly addressed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed repairs to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Assist in recruiting, screening, training, and evaluation of shop employees
  • Understand DOT laws amd regi;atopms
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues or problems , providing technical expertise and guidance to technicians
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair projects, ensuring that resources equipment, and materials are available and utilized efficiently
  • Maintain and update service records, including work orders, repair logs, and customer information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe and clean working enfironment for both employees and customers
  • collaborate with other departments or teams such as parts procurement or customer service, to facilitate smooth workflow and customer satisfaction

SKILLS

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
  • Excellent technical knowledge and expertise in automotive, machinery, or relevant mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues or problems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Sound decision-making skills, with the ability to make informed judgments and handle unexpected situations or challenges.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive or mechanical fields is preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a technician or mechanic, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and repair procedures.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, in a shop or service center environment.
  • Valid driver's license and Class A CDL
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, compliance standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Certification or licensure in relevant areas, such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of shop equipment and tools, including diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
