Ardurra is looking for a practiced and versatile Transportation Engineer who can be a support specialist to assist with transportation planning and project development products for state, MPO, city, and county jurisdictional projects, also on behalf of private development pursuits to join our Northwest Transportation Group!
The ideal candidate will report to our Spokane, WA office but open to considering candidate's that can report to any of our other Northwest office locations.
Locations :Position Summary & Responsibilities
- The ideal candidate will have experience with transportation data collection, travel forecasts, operations analyses, highway capacity evaluation, multimodal review, and various safety analyses, having supported development of transportation studies / plans, traffic impact analyses, design reports, and multimodal mobility planning projects.
- Strengths in research and analysis related to agency plans and policies, signals, roundabouts, intersections, interchanges, urban and rural roads, highways, active transportation facilities, and transit corridors.
- Understand, design and practical implications of planning recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Very conscientious about accuracy, quality, and presentability of work products.
- Position is ideal for a knowledgeable and competent specialist who, while starting in a support role, will actively seek increased responsibility until they find themselves in a project management role for Ardurra, as a quickly growing and highly-regarded consulting firm.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years’ experience working with private parties, local agencies, MPOs, state DOT’s, and Federal agencies.
- Ability to secure P.E. within two (2) years of hire, with eventual willingness to take ownership of transportation study / plan projects in any of our NW offices.
- Understanding of the Comprehensive and Transportation planning and programming processes.
- Understanding of multimodal forecasting concepts used with various traffic studies.
- Experience with traffic operations / capacity and microsimulation software’s (Synchro, SIMTRAFFIC, SIDRA, HCS, and VISSIM).
- Experience with Highway Capacity Manual and Highway Safety Manual concepts.
- Experience with ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, and NACTO guides in design application.
- Understanding of corridor and network analysis concepts, including coordination of signal and roundabout corridors.
- Understanding of multimodal analysis, including application with transit and active transportation measures-of-effectiveness.
- Confidence with one-on-one coordination and comfort presenting to groups.
- Ambition to secure traffic operations engineer (PTOE) licensure within 4 years of hire desired.
- Experience with travel demand modeling software (TransCAD, VISSUM, or CUBE, in particular) is desired.
- Willingness to assist in business development is a plus.
Salary Range
$75,000 to $90,000 (DOE)
