REACH FOR THE STARS - WHITTIER SCHOOL DISTRICT

The HR Generalist reports to the HR Director and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department.

This role includes handling various HR functions such as ADP Workforce Now semi-monthly payroll processing, recruiting, and administering employee benefits.

The HR Generalist ensures compliance with HR policies, regulations, and supports a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Payroll Processing :
  • Manage semi-monthly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll submissions.
  • Handle payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Recruiting :
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle from job posting to onboarding.
  • Develop and post job descriptions on various platforms.
  • Screen and interview candidates.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to determine hiring needs and schedule interviews.
  • Conduct reference checks and prepare job offers.
  • Employee Benefits Administration :
  • Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and issues.
  • Ensure compliance with benefits regulations and manage annual enrollment processes.
  • Collaborate with benefits providers and manage relationships.
  • HR Compliance :
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records and HR databases.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Conduct audits of HR activities to ensure compliance.
  • Employee Relations :
  • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and grievances.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and promote a positive work environment.
  • Support performance management processes and assist with employee evaluations.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Specialist or Generalist role.
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Preferred Skills :

HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent).

Working Conditions :

  • This position typically works in an office environment.
  • May require occasional travel to local sites
