Hiring Pay Range : $21.50-22.75 per hour

About UMOM New Day Centers : Founded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness.

Our mission is to end family homelessness by restoring hope and rebuilding lives. With an annual operating budget of $20 million dollars, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County.

UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including those families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub, Maricopa County's family coordinated entry system.

Position Description : The Logistics Associate position focuses on the daily operations of the Logistics Department, including but not limited to conducting pick-ups and / or deliveries, receiving and sorting donations, inventory control, preparing client requests, donor services, and new employee training.

The Logistics Associate reports to the Warehouse Supervisor daily to ensure thorough communication about workflow, project status updates, team challenges, and inventory needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Skilled work

  • Participates in all aspects of donation reception and distribution, organization, and repair / cleaning, including :
  • Picking up donations from businesses and private residences

Receives and processes, fulfills, loads, and delivers orders (including furniture) to homes and third-party organizations

  • Inspects, accurately counts, and documents intake and quantities of items
  • Sorts and stocks items in an organized and systematic way
  • Participates in all aspects of donation documentation, inventory, and reporting, including :
  • Captures and documents donor information and provides receipts
  • Maintains inventory and reviews data, ensures accuracy
  • Conducts regular cycle counts
  • Maintains cleanliness, safety, organization of all areas of the Logistics Department, including but not limited to warehouse space, office area, fleet vehicles, parking lot and common areas, etc.
  • Ensures all UMOM work areas (including fleet vehicles) are free of trash and hazards
  • Cleans and / or coordinates the cleaning of and ensures all equipment is in proper working condition
  • Assures the housekeeping of work areas are scheduled and completed
  • Operates vehicles and equipment, such as trucks, vans, forklifts, pallet-jacks, and push-dollies, to safely move and store items within a warehouse setting and out in the community
  • Supports UMOM events and special projects, as needed

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Assists with the support and training of new employees and current staff, on all the above Skilled Work in addition to standards, policies, and procedures of the Logistics Department and UMOM New Day Centers
  • Provides exceptional customer service and a positive experience when interacting with any of the following : donors, clients, UMOM coworkers, and community members.

Promotes and demonstrates the UMOM mission and core values.

  • Notifies leadership of safety issues related to work areas, equipment, vehicles, and employees (including unsafe work habits)
  • Participates in regular trainings for safety and operations and completes all required UMOM training.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality and seamless customer service

Qualification and Competency Requirements :

Experience and Education

  • High School diploma / GED preferred
  • Ability to drive a 16' to 26' box truck, pickup truck with trailer attached, and use material handling equipment such as pallet jack, forklift, push carts, etc.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred

Computer Skills :

  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn, basic applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook for email communication and documentation responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn, basic functions of inventory software to accurately receive, pick, and issue goods;

perform cycle counts; and other essential functions related to inventory tracking.

Physical Demands The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative, but not exhaustive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This position is very active and requires remaining in a stationary position and / or moving for a majority of the workday.

The person in this position frequently operates equipment, ascends / descends stairs, and positions self to accomplish essential tasks, bending, kneeling, and lifting all day.

The employee must frequently move and transport items up to 75 pounds, most of the time with a team member. The duties of this job require regular exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Ability to regularly lift 75 pounds and adhere to safe lifting practices (team lift, use of tools and equipment)

Compliance

  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to clear a DCS Central Registry background check
  • Valid AZ Driver's License and a driving record that falls within UMOM's policy
  • 50 / 100 level of car insurance coverage (mileage reimbursement available)
  • Forklift certified or the ability to be certified within 90 days of start date
