MOTHER / BABY - LACTATION CONSULTANT (IBCLC)
Part-Time / with alternate weekends
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, intervention and education regarding breastfeeding to childbearing families in Maternal Child Services.
- Provide lactation consultation to breastfeeding women admitted to any unit in the Medical Center.
- Communicate with multidisciplinary team in Maternal Child Services regarding breastfeeding patients.
- Document all education and interventions provided to breastfeeding families.
- Assist with nursing staff competencies and physician education regarding breastfeeding.
- Provide coordination of perinatal education classes.
- Collaborate and report to Nurse Manager of Maternity Services.
Qualifications
Required :
- Must have BLS & NRP Certification
- Must have a current NY RN license
- IBCLC with board certification maintained through examination and / or continuing education
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs. A strong sense of accountability. An exceptional focus on teamwork.
