ABOUT THE ROLE

The Financial Controller SG&A Co-Pilot role is a strategic business partner to Wella France by directly partnering with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to drive results that meet and exceed business objectives for Wella France.

The Financial Controller SG&A Co-Pilot plays a crucial role in ensuring the achievement of our organizational and financial objectives.

Above all, this position must influence Wella France business partners to drive decisions that will improve performance and help the business meet or exceed its objectives.

We are looking specifically for Selling, General, and Administrative Expenses (SG&A) co pilot. This role will support multiple stakeholders and budget owners, including HR team and Leadership team.

Reporting to Local CFO, you will get to lead forecasting and actuals analysis process for SG&A, drive savings and optimization projects, deliver insightful reporting and set up the right stewardship process.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Financial reporting and drumbeat for Wella France :

  • Act as single point of contact for the GM, the CFO, FP&A and the business teams on fixed cost related topics
  • Monthly rolling forecast preparation (leading meetings with stakeholders, HR file review, non-people costs contracts repository and review, reporting refresh with actuals and inputs, variance analysis and timely R&O assessment and submission to FP&A)
  • End to end SG&A month-end lead (collecting actuals, analysing differences vs forecast, preparing MEC journals and reporting, leading pre / MEC meetings with budget holders and FP&A, analysing and assessing risks and opps and making recommendations for forecast adjustment;

validation of correct accounting entries and ensuring proper allocation of costs in cost centers)

Hand in Hand with FP&A, ensure accuracy of Forecasted and Actual P&L (Fixed costs, Paris Studio P&L, Cost to serve P&L per channel etc);

analyse results and support presentation and communication of financial results

  • Support and challenge budget holders (including leadership team) around cost control, budget and overall spend; ensuring no deviation vs forecast greater than €20k per month
  • Reconciliations : real estate deep dive, compensation, balance sheet review, run-rate analysis and variance vs prior periods / forecasts

Stewardship for Wella France :

  • Contribute to process improvements and tracking SG&A cost savings.
  • SG&A PO management (approvals, coding, guidance to budget holders)
  • Develop and implement financial and operational processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial objectives.
  • CAPEX requests : finance lead from proposal and financial assessment to execution and accounting entries, Fixed assets list review and control, including liaising with local project managers and SSC team where necessary.
  • Business partnering : act as the key business partner for various Budget holders and HR Director, to ensure that key strategic objectives are achieved.

Coordinate target setting process with CFO down to budget owner level

  • SG&A policies guardian and simplification / best practices implementation champion
  • Lead projects such as Cost To Serve modelling; sales incentive modelling; cost reduction / restructuring projects;
  • Production of powerful PowerBI reporting by cost centre / cost type for stakeholders : LT, FP&A, studio leaders, HR, Facilities manager etc
  • Responsible for implementing and enhancing SOP and SOX controls.

WHAT WE WANT YOU TO BRING ALONG

  • Part qualified / qualified accountant.
  • Bachelor's degree is a requirement, with a preference for candidates who have completed their degree in a relatable subject such as Finance, Business, or Accounting
  • Fluent in written & spoken English / (nice to have French)
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (accruals, prepaid accounts, etc.)

Essential :

  • 4+ years’ experience in Financial Analysis and Forecasting
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficient SAP user
  • Intermediate Power BI skills
  • Proven track record of challenging stakeholders and ability to make judgment on the accuracy / reliability of the inputs provided
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines / stress and demonstration of resilience
  • Proven ability to initiate and follow through the end of simplification / standardization projects
  • Examples of responding effectively to multiple demands
  • Examples of successfully delivering on savings projects
  • Profound understanding of P&L and Balance Sheet under U.S. GAAP, particularly in fixed cost area and experience in month-end close process of both P&L and B / S;

knowledge of Statutory accounting principles

  • Ability to drive and maintain contact with third party service providers
  • Reliable, proactive, highly driven and self-motivated working style
  • Proven ability to work independently (with limited supervision) and possesses the initiative to identify problems and propose creative solutions
  • High attention to detail and accuracy; maturity, integrity, and high level of discretion are required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of hierarchy with multifunctional partners and with external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and further develop skills / competencies at fast pace

Desirable :

  • Proficient / advanced Power BI skills
  • Experience in working with SG&A controlling
  • Financial modelling expertise
