Job Description and Duties

The Office Technician Typing (OT-T) is the advanced journey level which regularly performs a variety of the most difficult duties and is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and originality in performing assigned tasks.

Under general supervision of the designated, the OT-T provides independent secretarial services in the unit. Follow oral and written directions, evaluate situations accurately and take effective action;

make clear and comprehensive reports and maintain records; apply specific rules and office policies and procedures as they pertain to the area.

This classification communicates effectively, and exercises a high degree of initiative, independence, and originality in performing the assigned tasks.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Special Requirements

The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section).

You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and / or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts / diploma for verification.

Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined a candidate does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position.

Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department testing on an annual basis thereafter.
