Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Intake Director is accountable for directing the Admission / Assessment activities at the facility. As a clinician, this position provides direction to staff consisting of Intake Assessors / Clinicians and RNs in the provision of psychiatric assessment, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals.
This position also includes the implementation of case management scenarios, consulting with all services to ensure the provision of an effective treatment plan for all patients.
This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team / external case managers / managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital departments.
Education / Training :
Master’s degree in a Behavioral Health Field (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.) or BSN / RN.
Experience :
A minimum of 5 years clinical experience required, 2 years in a management capacity; experience in psychiatric evaluation, triage, and crisis stabilization;
experience in fiscal management; experience in clinical supervision; experience in program development.
Licensure / Certification :
- Current North Carolina Driver’s License
- North Carolina license eligible in Behavioral Health or RN license. Must obtain license within 90 days of employment.
- Current CPR Certification; CPI Certification w / in 60-days of start.
Knowledge and Skills :
- Knowledge of applicable State and federal regulations and Joint Commission standards.
- Knowledge of appropriate clinical assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
- Knowledge of milieu management.
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
- Management skills which demonstrate the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
- Public speaking, teaching, and training skills.
- Organizational, time management, problem solving, crisis management and team building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible, and calm.
- Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Skills in application of DSM methodology.
