Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Disabled Student Affairs and Campus Accessibility Coordinator position with ASOSU at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Disabled Student Affairs and Campus Accessibility Coordinator serves as a part of the Diversity and Inclusion team of the ASOSU Executive Branch to facilitate the continuation of the pilot program for the disabled students community.

The coordinator will be responsible for programming and event planning, outreach, and community building for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities will also include assessing the needs and desires of this community and facilitating directives in line with the assessment.

Given the limited hours and timeline of ASOSU’s advocacy, these responsibilities (including those provided below) may be amended or vary depending on the ongoing needs or emergent issues and / or circumstances. Position Duties

  • Plan and lead events and programs geared towards building community for students with disabilities;
  • Engage with members of the community to gather data on potential needs, and adapt programs to serve these needs;
  • Work to provide opportunities for input and involvement in ASOSU for students of underrepresented backgrounds, communities, and / or perspectives;
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in OSU and identify avenues for partnership;
  • Keep up to date with programs, groups, and resources pertaining to diversity and inclusion on campus and in the broader community, primarily focused on the communities served.
  • Report to the Diversity and Inclusion Director and Executive Affairs Coordinator concerning updates within the pilot program, and meet regularly with the Executive Affairs Coordinator;
  • Attend regular all-executive staff meetings and debrief meetings;
  • Work regularly with the Diversity and Inclusion team; regularly attend their meetings;
  • Work with the pilot program steering committee and provide a report to the ASOSU Congress as needed; meet regularly with the committee to provide updates with the program’s progress;
  • Meet with the ASOSU Faculty Advisory biweekly for one-on-one meetings;
  • Send the Chief of Staff a schedule of working hours at the beginning of each academic term.
  • Serve and work on additional committees and campaigns, such as the Voter Registration Drive and ASOSU Elections, at the direction of the ASOSU President;
  • Other duties as assigned by the ASOSU President and Vice President.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standardHigh School student : Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling programUndergraduate and post-baccalaureate student : 6 credit hours per termUndergraduate international student : 12 credit hours per term*Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School : 5 credit hours per termGraduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School : 9 credit hours per term*
  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

A reduced course load is approved by the (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications

ASOSU Constitution eligibility requirements : Be currently admitted to the university.Be eligible for student employment with the university except for requirements regarding credit hours or eligibility for enrollment in the United States.

Have been previously enrolled in at least one prior OSU or college-level credit, or be enrolled in first term at Oregon State University

  • Must be available for training for the week of September 16th, 2024.
  • Undergraduate students shall have earned at least six credits hours in their most recently completed term, be currently registered for at least six credit hours, not be on conduct probation, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00
  • Graduate students shall have earned at least five hours of credit in their most recently completed term, be currently registered for at least five hours, not be on conduct probation, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00.
  • A commitment to promoting and advancing diversity and creating an atmosphere of inclusion;
  • Communication skills in areas including but not limited to interpersonal, public speaking, digital, verbal, and written communications;
  • Ability to manage time and work accurately with interruptions to meet a deadline;
  • Work well under pressure, exercising flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and discretion
  • Willingness to be adaptable, to accept changes and try new things;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

  • Experience working with organizations focusing on student advocacy, campus involvement, diversity and inclusion, or other related areas;
  • Experience in leading and directing individuals.
  • Experience with project management and coordinating teams.
