About The Job Dudek is looking for a document layout specialist who is interested in joining an employee-owned company in the environmental / engineering consulting industry.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with experience in desktop publishing. Advanced skill level in MS Word is critical, and experience in the industry is a plus.

Dudek is a leading environmental and engineering firm that contracts with public and private clients. Our publications group is a dynamic team that helps to craft and publish technical reports, proposals, and other business documents.

This position is open to applicants in the following locations near Dudek offices : Portland, Sacramento, Santa Barbara, San Juan Capistrano, Encinitas, or San Diego.

While we expect the person selected for this position to be an engaged member of their Dudek office, remote work is permitted and will be discussed as part of the interview process.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below) : Formatting technical reports and proposals using project-specific style manuals and templates Preparing and maintaining company templates Applying rigorous document quality control measures Overseeing production efforts on large, multi-dimensional projects Assisting with team workload management Working closely with project team members across departments to ensure timely delivery of documents Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field;

work experience in a related field may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree 2+ years of professional experience

As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment : pre - employment drug test and background check.

Preferred Qualifications An organized, motivated, and detail-oriented personality A collaborative nature with strong verbal communication skills A creative approach to problem solving with a positive attitude Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe programs, particularly Word, Acrobat, and InDesign Previous formatting / layout design experience in a high-volume setting Familiarity with AirTable Proficiency in MS Excel Experience with 508 compliance, including CommonLook PDF and Office Experience with virtual communication platforms such as Zoom Publishing or production experience Ability to prioritize multiple projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements Working Conditions : This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.

This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

Physical Requirements : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.

This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc.

Speaking, hearing and listening are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Outdoor activity may involve walking / trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Proposed Salary Range : $26 - $38 per hour* *Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
