The Director of Psychiatry Services has administrative responsibility for the management of Psychiatry Services and provides leadership, direction, and clinical supervision in accordance with departmental, organizational, and University goals and objectives.
- This position provides patient care; supervises, assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care;
- develops and implements programmatic plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current regulations;
- develops and administers comprehensive programs that responds to patient demographic needs; supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to Psychiatry Services;
and effectively utilizes employee resources and time responsibilities for the department.
There is opportunity for additional salary if you have completed fellowships and are board certified in applicable psychiatry subspecialties, for example, Addiction Psychiatry.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director of the CSU Health Network and serves as a member of the Leadership Team, which is responsible for strategic planning, assessment, accreditation, and other large scope initiatives.
A signing bonus of up to $5, may be considered for successful candidates. Required Job Qualifications Education / Licensure / Certification
- Possession of a current, Colorado Physician (MD / DO); or possession of a current, temporary Colorado Physician (MD / DO) and ability to obtain permanent Colorado physician license within 90 days of hire
- Board certification in Psychiatry
- A valid current unrestricted DEA number
Experience
- Five years of clinical experience working as a full-time Psychiatrist
- Two years of clinical supervision, including the direct supervision of advanced practice providers
- One year of leadership experience and general supervision of staff, including : alignment of clinical policy according to needs of the patient population and resources within psychiatry services;
- collaboration across disciplines sharing patient care Medical Services and Counseling Services) to provide total patient care;

Preferred Job Qualifications Experience
- Six plus years of clinical experience working as a full-time Psychiatrist
- Experience working as a Psychiatrist on a college campus
- Experience and comfort with electronic medical records and computer use
- Two years of leadership experience and general supervision of staff
- Experience with accreditation standards and accrediting agencies, such as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) or Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics
- Knowledge of principles and methods of healthcare for the college age population, including diagnosis and treatment of mental / emotional disturbances, modern methods and principles of psychiatry, general medicine and neurology, and skill in their application
- Knowledge of community resources in patient management
- Excellent clinical skills in treating Mood Disorder, Substance Use Disorders, Eating Disorders, ADHD, and psychosis in a young adult population

Essential Duties Job Duty Category Patient Care Duty / Responsibility
- Provides outpatient adult and adolescent psychopharmacology and brief psychotherapy. Responsible for psychiatric patient assessments, analyzing patient conditions, ordering medical testing and providing interpretation of same, documenting findings and initiating patient care plans
- Responsible for assessing progress of patients and modifying treatment accordingly
- Completes electronic medical record documentation, with upkeep of medication and problem lists
- Institutes emergency hospitalization procedures to include transport of patients in crisis for the safety and stabilization of acutely ill individuals
- Refers patients to community Psychiatric Practitioners or clinics as necessary
- Collaboration across disciplines sharing patient care Medical Services and Counseling Services) to provide total patient care

- Coordinates psychiatric services according to the need and availability of services, assuring the proper and timely care to all students who need it

- Serves as a leader for other providers and manages administratively the activities and performance evaluations within the department

Percentage Of Time 40% Job Duty Category Consultation and Clinical Supervision Duty / Responsibility
- Serves as physician mentor and clinical supervisor for one or more Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants at CSU Health Network
- Works with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants for medication refills and / or drug assistance program
- Consults with and advises the Counseling Services and Medical Services providers at CSU Health Network regarding patients with special problems in accordance with established guidelines

Percentage Of Time 5% Job Duty Category Collaboration Duty / Responsibility
- Collaborates with other entities within the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) and allied health professionals at Poudre Valley Healthcare System and other community entities
- May serve as the Psychiatrist on a collaborative mental health treatment team for high risk students designed to ensure a safety net and promote academic retention for this population
- Presents periodic psychiatric workshops for staff and trainees
- Participates on appropriate CSU Health Network and University committees
- Collaborates with Counseling Services, Behavioral Health, and Medical Services providers to provide an interdisciplinary care model
