POSITION DESCRIPTION :
The Department of Agriculture, Biology and Health Sciences seeks applications from qualified individuals who are interested in part time teaching positions as adjunct instructors in our Respiratory Care program.
Applications may or may not result in immediate hiring, but we will keep applications on file. Teaching assignments are conducted on the campuses of Cameron University and Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton, OK.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of nine credit hours during a semester.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Minimum qualifications for the position (temporary appointment) include (1) graduate of an accredited program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree level) in respiratory care;
- 2) Oklahoma licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner; (3) Certified Respiratory Therapist; (4) Three years as a practicing Respiratory Therapist;
- 5) Two years of critical care experience; (6) One year precepting new hires or students of a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program;
and (8) Individual must be able to abide by current and future clinical site requirements as mandated by each site
Preferred Qualifications :
Desired qualifications include : (1) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); (2) Master’s degree in Respiratory Care or related healthcare field;
and (3) Relevant teaching experience in Respiratory Care or other related healthcare field
About the Program :
The A.A.S. in Respiratory Care program is accredited by CoARC. It has been in operation continuously since 1999. Originally it operated as a consortium agreement between Cameron University and Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton, OK.
However, in 2015 program sponsorship moved to Cameron University and the program became an undergraduate degree program at Cameron University.
The faculty members in the program are Cameron University employees and the students in the program are Cameron University students.
The professional courses continue to be taught at Great Plains Technology Center, through a continuing partnership with Cameron University.
Students engage in clinical practice at nine hospitals located across southwest Oklahoma and in Oklahoma City. The program currently is authorized to accept a maximum of thirteen students annually into the professional program, which encompasses 16 months of coursework and clinical experience.
A new cohort is selected during the late spring and begins the program in August of each year.
