Join our dedicated team as a Full-Time Teacher for the Hard of Hearing for the 2024-2025 school year in Kent, Washington.
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced educator to provide specialized instruction and support to students who are hard of hearing.
In this role, you will play a vital role in creating inclusive classroom environments, fostering academic growth, and promoting social-emotional development for students with hearing impairments.
Location : Kent, Washington
Position Type : Full-Time, Onsite
Caseload : Approximately 10-15 students
Responsibilities :
Provide direct instruction and support to students in both individual and small group settings, utilizing a variety of communication modalities and assistive technologies.
Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated educational experience for students.
Adapt and modify instructional materials, curriculum, and assessments to meet the diverse learning needs of students with hearing impairments.
Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and maintain accurate records of academic performance and achievement.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes self-advocacy, independence, and social-emotional well-being for students who are hard of hearing.
Communicate regularly with parents / guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas of concern, fostering strong partnerships between home and school.
Qualifications :
Valid Washington state teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education with an endorsement in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Knowledge of best practices, methodologies, and assistive technologies for teaching students who are hard of hearing.
Experience working with students who are hard of hearing across diverse grade levels and ability levels.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with research-based practices in the field of deaf education.
