Performs Medical Record functions under the direction of the Business Office Manager.
Responsibilities Include :
- Reviews, checks, and files consumer charts as required. Develops procedures to ensure records are properly completed, coded, signed, etc. before filing.
- Abstracts information from records as authorized / required for payers, government agencies, etc.
- Files active and inactive records in accordance with established policies. Maintains and follows internal controls to assure compliance with established procedures.
- Develops and maintains a good working report with inter-departmental personnel within the agency to assure that medical records can be properly maintained.
- Ensures confidentiality regarding sensitive material including employee and service user’s rights to privacy, and protected health information
- Some responsibilities with or in : NCTOPPS, Provider Direct, Core Indicators, Incident Reports, DLA-20 statistics, etc.
Required Education / Experience :
- High School Diploma / GED Required. Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree preferred
- One year of Medical Billing Experience preferred
Pre-employment screening :
- Complete criminal background
- Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
- Drug testing
- Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
- Proof of employment history or references (if required)
- Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
