Afterschool Prevention Program Facilitator

Overview

This position will teach a prevention curriculum in elementary and / or junior high after school programs in Magna and / or Kearns.

Responsibilities

• This position will be part of a team of prevention program facilitators assigned to teach a substance misuse / violence prevention curriculum to elementary and junior high students in after school programs in Magna and Kearns.
• The primary responsibility will be to get trained in the curriculum and then to teach 15 weekly lessons throughout the 2024-25 school year at one or more schools.
• Some data collection and implementation documentation will also be required.
• Teaching will occur during the week in afterschool programs, approximately 3 : 00 to 6 : 00 pm. The number of hours and the schedule will be determined by the selected individuals' availability.
• Individuals will be compensated for travel time to and from assigned teaching locations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification :

• Must have experience and enjoy teaching or working with youth
• Have an educational background in education, public health, prevention, health education / promotion, family studies, psychology, or other related field.
• Must be available during weekdays between 3 : 00 and 6 : 00 pm.

Advertised Salary

$20-$23 per hour

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and / or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.

The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
