Position Overview
The Director of Sales provides leadership in all commercial aspects of the business. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with proven managerial experience and an outstanding track record in developing and executing strategic sales plans for growth.
This individual will be responsible for meeting annual sales targets while motivating our sales team, developing talent, designing strategic sales plans, and assessing costs and competition.
Expectations include the ability to effectively coach a sales team to sell at all levels of management and build relationships that ensure Avient will continue to get the first and last look.
Extensive experience in customer-centric selling approaches and effectively selling the value of our products and services are key to success.
This individual is a thought leader who has demonstrated the ability to effectively interact, influence and negotiate at all levels of organizations (Avient and Customer) including the VP / GM level.
This position will report to the General Manager, C&A US / CA. Up to 75% travel is required.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Deliver profitable revenue growth, including robust new business development and selling value to achieve stated gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
- Strong business acumen to manage a P&L, working capital, profitability, etc. Must be experienced in developing a budget, operating plan and goals for sales managers and sellers that align with the annual operating plan commitments.
- Developing and promoting weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales objectives.
- Approach the sales process with a high degree of professionalism and effectiveness by successful utilization of customer-centric selling skills and tools, such as use of scorecards, business reviews, EVE tools, high / wide / deep, 5 warning signs, prospecting & new account calls, development of a robust sales funnel, collecting ARs, avoidance of bad debts, cross-selling, and effective CRM system management.
- Ability to coach, mentor and develop direct reports to create an environment where a highly motivated, engaged team of Sales professionals thrive.
- Collaboration and communication with Marketing and Technology leaders to prepare the business plan, strategy, and implementation of a successful business plan aligned across functions for growth.
- Development of highly productive relationships with key customers, suppliers and internal contacts is essential.
- Maintaining first-hand knowledge of technology changes, material development and marketplace conditions to effectively assess competition, market share analysis, and present strategy changes to defend or increase market share.

Education
Bachelors Chemistry, Marketing or equivalent experience Required
Experience
Masters-Business Admin or equivalent experience Preferred
