We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cyber Threat Exercise Program Coordinator to join our cyber defense and response organization.
As a Cyber Threat Exercise Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating cyber threat exercises, drills, and training programs for our cyber defense and response team.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity analysts, engineers, and stakeholders, to enhance the team's preparedness and response capabilities.
The Work Itself
- Develop and coordinate cyber threat exercises, drills, and training programs to assess and enhance the cyber defense and response team's capabilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify exercise objectives, scenarios, and success criteria
- Design and create realistic and challenging cyber threat scenarios that simulate real-world attacks and incidents
- Coordinate and facilitate tabletop exercises, functional exercises, and full-scale exercises to evaluate the team's response capabilities
- Conduct post-exercise evaluations and analysis to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for enhancing the team's effectiveness
- Create reports for leadership on exercise outcomes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training materials, including presentations, workshops, and online resources
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cyber threats, attack techniques, and industry best practices to ensure exercise programs remain relevant and effective
- Enhance existing program documentation or create new documentation in order to expand program offerings
- Assist in the development and maintenance of incident response playbooks and standard operating procedures
- Participate in incident response activities as needed, providing support and guidance to the cyber defense and response team
- Collaborate with external partners, such as vendors, industry experts, or government agencies, to enhance exercise programs and share best practices
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- 5+ years of cyber security experience, some of which should include developing and coordinating cyber threat exercises, drills, or training programs;
or experience with disaster recovery or business continuity
- Strong knowledge of cyber threats, attack techniques, and incident response procedures
- Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST 800-53, or MITRE cyber security planning guides
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), are a plus
