Summary :
Functions under minimal supervision to safely operate and maintain multiple sophisticated medical types of equipment and all the technical aspects necessary to use efficiently.
The incumbent will have extensive experience recognizing and managing seizures in Phases I and Phase II epilepsy patients.
Simultaneous EEG and video recording of seizures and various procedures make the Neurodiagnostic Technologist III role more significantly demanding.
Responsible for reporting any significant patient abnormalities in the diagnostic data to the appropriate physician. Performs basic and complex electrophysiological recording following physician's orders and historical information.
Functions in both the clinical and surgical setting in Summa Health Epilepsy Center's future growth. Provides Electroneurodiagnostic testing to patients of all ages providing vital information assisting in the diagnosis of suspected neurological disorders.
Formal Education Required :
Graduate of an accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) program OR Associate’s Degree in Allied Health or Natural Sciences OR training in a 2 year Neurodiagnostic educational program Or be ABRET registry with related credential (R.
EEG T. CNIM,CLTM, R.EP T., etc)
Experience & Training Required :
Three (3) years Neurodiagnostic technology experience in an acute care setting, performing procedures on adult patients (infant, pediatric with future growth);
experience in Video Long Term Monitoring (LTM) strongly preferred.
- ABRET registry with related credential (R.EEG T. CNIM,CLTM, R.EP T., etc), preferred
- CPR / BLS certification
- Training experience in all modalities is highly preferred.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications :
- Knowledge of human anatomy with emphasis on neuroanatomy, physiology, physics and medical electronics is essential in providing the basis for monitoring electroencephalograms (EEG's) and evoked potentials (EP's) and recognizing pathology related to the neurological data.
- Must have a complete understanding of recording sites and recording montages to help localize various abnormalities.
- Understanding of pharmacology, especially anti-epileptic and anesthetic medications, is essential, as is in-depth understanding of medical terminology.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of Electroneurodiagnostic equipment assembly and operation as well as routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Extensive knowledgeable in use of analog and digital equipment in the Neurodiagnostic Laboratory and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
- Good understanding of computers is essential for use of digital monitoring equipment and troubleshooting computer malfunction.
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients / customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
Level of Physical Demands :
- Extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients, i.e., pushing beds, carts, and wheelchairs.
- Ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
$36.47 / hr - $43.76 / hr
