Assistant Controller

Summary :

This position is responsible for the helping drive adherence to GAAP accounting and a strong control environment. The Assistant Controller will have an instrumental role in setting accounting policy, completion of month-end close, execution of the year-end audit and researching accounting issues.

This position will report to the Controller and will have frequent interaction with the CFO.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

• Ensures all accounting is handled in accordance with GAAP
• Prepares materials for the company's external auditors
• Oversees the preparation and evaluation of financial operating reports; and presents finding and recommendations to senior management
• Prepares and reviews journal entries
• Performs corporate financial / statutory reporting process
• Supervises and prepares general ledger reconciliations and performs account analysis
• Examine, review, analyze and interpret accounting records in preparation of issuance of financial statements
• Coordinates the monthly, quarterly and annual close functions, ensuring that all transitions are booked in a timely manner and in accord with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Works with external auditors as part of the close process

• Directs and integrates changes in processes into the account systems and accounting cycle
• Reviews contracts to ensure billing and revenue is recorded accurately

Education and Experience :

Education : BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline or equivalent work experience

Experience : Minimum of 5 years relevant general ledger and financial analysis experience

Preferred : CPA, MBA or Master's degree strongly desired

Previous experience in Great Plains Software, preferred

Process improvement experience a plus

Strong internal controls background
