Buyer, Full-Time, Forks, PA
GENERAL SUMMARY :
Support contract manufacturing / kits and accessories categories by sourcing materials evaluating supplier quotes and negotiating costs to determine most desirable supplier.
Work closely with suppliers to build ongoing relationships and track their progress as we launch new products to ensure timelines and goals are being met.
Collaborate with Platform Team members to make certain new product schedules are met.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Source products from suppliers that produce kit, component or packaging products
- Partner with various Crayola buying offices to maximize the cost and supplier relationship opportunities.
- Manages suppliers' progress in the commercialization process prior to product selection.
- Primary point person for daily communication between supplier and all internal Crayola management levels to assure understanding and expectations of all parties are understood to achieve successful launch of new product introductions.
- Evaluate and process incoming quotes and samples to ensure internal departments complete their evaluation / analysis to obtain approval, rejection, or collect additional required information for final decision making.
- Obtain supplier lead-times and manufacturing capabilities for input into our timelines and SAP purchasing system.
- Negotiate solution of any problems that arise in relation to delivery dates, quality, quantity and / or cost. If corrective action is required, follow material discrepancy policy.
- Establish Standard Costs and monitor purchase price variances against financial corporate standards and reports variances.
- Fuel innovation in the business by leveraging suppliers' ideas and product capabilities and submit to Platform Teams for global procurement management assessment.
- Sets up Purchasing Information Records and maintains SAP data.
- Investigate, identify, and implement alternative sourcing options for products and services that may improve quality while reducing overall cost
- Maximize participation of and maintain Hallmark's Supplier Diversity Program.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree (Logistics / Supply Chain / Sourcing preferred) or 4 years working in a business environment.
- Minimum 1 year experience where primary responsibility was working with suppliers and / or customers
- Working knowledge of Chemistry, chemicals, and compounds preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of sourcing multiple products or materials.
- Project management experience, ability to multitask.
- Prior experience with Operations, Research & Development or related experience.
- Advanced P.C. skills, experience with SAP a plus.
