The Family Outreach Aide plays a vital role in connecting with families, understanding their needs, and providing support services to enhance family well-being.
This position requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who can effectively communicate with families from diverse backgrounds.
Purpose Statement The job of the Family Outreach Aide was established for the purpose / s of assisting the Educational Equity / Federal Programs Department and the Special Education Department family engagement initiatives.
Under the direction of the Educational Equity / Federal Programs Director, the Family Outreach Aide will support Title III (ELL) and Title VI (Indian Education) students and families.
Under the direction of the Special Education Director, the Family Outreach Aide will assist all families with the Medicaid application process.
Key Responsibilities
- Support both the Educational Equity / Federal Programs, and Special Education Department’s student and family outreach initiatives by :
- Establishing and maintain relationships with families throughout the district
- Helping to coordinate and attend outreach activities to identify families requiring support services. Examples include, but are not limited to :
- Attend family engagement events at school and provide resources for Medicaid
- Attend Title VI (Indian Education) family engagement activities and provide support.
- Meet with parents / families to complete the Title III ( ELL) onboarding process
- Connecting and assisting families as they complete the Medicaid application.
- Maintaining accurate records of interactions with families and the services provided.
- Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in family support services.
Job Requirements : Required Bilingual
- Spanish / English preferred
- Experience interpreting and translating
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to operate standard office equipment; preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing pertinent software applications;
and utilizing problem solving techniques.
- Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of issues impacting diverse populations.
