Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin
The primary responsibility of this position is to recruit and retain adult program participants. The Career & Family Navigator will also manage services, supports center activities and opportunities delivered through the service integration, beginning with referral and assessment and continuing through service provision to aftercare and case closure;
helping the program participants and their families overcome barriers that may prevent them from being able to secure and sustain employment
The Career & Family Navigator is crucial to the success of the San Joaquin Bridge Academy program and must develop, strengthen, motivate and maintain relationships with program participants.
This position requires a high-energy individual with an entrepreneurial and team spirit, plus a passion for education. Successful candidates will be innovative leaders.
The role of this position is to fulfill a broad range of case management and administrative function for the integration and coordination of the services within the context of a neighborhood-based family resource center (FRC) and community-based family support platforms (i.
e., Family Strengthening, Family Support Principles).
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs case management and administrative functions as an integral member of an interagency integrated service team.
Willing to learn Integration concept in delivery of services.
- Works with informal service providers (neighbors, church leadership, and others) to ensure they have appropriate support as they work with children and families in the context of integrated service plans.
- Assists with FRC or other community-based family support platform general operations to ensure success of integrated service process.
- Participates in job development training and service integration related training, including cross-training.
- Develops and implement a plan to recruit program participants.
- Develops and implement a plan and strategies for participant retention once they begin the training program.
- Conducts outreach activities to engage new referral sources and participants.
- Performs intake and assessment services for prospective program participants determine readiness for job training programs.
- Develops individual service plans based on participant input, interests, and needs.
- Maintains participant records and complete required documentation / reporting, including any and all requests of funders and / or program evaluators.
- Coordinates participants’ participation in programs with collaborating agencies.
- Network with other providers / organizations to generate community resources for participants.
- Assists participants with researching and accessing needed services including additional job training, educational supports, counseling, housing, childcare, medical services and others.
- Coordinates service provision with referring agencies.
- Develops and performs mentoring, coaching and follow up strategies to ensure retention of participants.
- Conducts, facilitates, and organizes workshops under the direction of the Site Manager
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s Level with at least one year experience preferred in Human Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Social Work or relevant area preferred.
Associate’s degree or some college considered with considerable related experience.
- Experience with job placement processes.
- Preferred experience with at-risk populations, including low-wage earners, individuals with disabilities, working families and others.
- Experience with the welfare / food stamp system.
- Must have reliable transportation and maintain updated license and insurance at all times.
- Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed , as well as some travel
- Pass TB test and background screening clearance.
- Minimum one year experience working with parents and demonstrated knowledge of academic, social, and cultural need of disadvantaged families preferred.
- Experience working in multi-cultural settings.
- Experience in planning and conducting case management.

- Exceptional time management skills, report writing ability, familiar with Fresno area providers and resources.
- Excellent community-building and communication skills : written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Ability to encourage and motivate others.
- A strong ability to work independently, multi-task, and set priorities to accomplish various instructional and operational tasks.

- Ability to work with children, youth, and families in a "strengths-based" context. Ability to work under pressure and evidence of the ability to engage in creative problem solving.
- Knowledge of community resources within local area. Experience working in multi-cultural
- Strong competency / experience with PC systems and standard software (Microsoft Office : Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
and Internet skills.
- Demonstrated administrative experience including excellent organizational skills, a high degree of accuracy, and a willingness to adapt to changing situations.
- Candidate must demonstrate flexibility and good sense of humor.
- Candidate must be a willing team player and get along well with coworkers.
PHYSICAL REQUIEMENTS :
- Employee in this position must have the ability to :
- Sit for extended periods of time.
- Stand and walk for a long period of time, bend over, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull and move, lift and / or carry at least 30 pounds to waist height.
- Enter data into a computer terminal / typewriter, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
- See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
- Hear and understand speed at normal levels and on the telephone.
- Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a standard office environment, and come in to direct contact with CPF’s staff, other agencies and the public.
- Employees in this position will also be required to outreach to target neighborhoods and schools, and work outside of the office atmosphere.

COMPENSATION :
Starting Pay Scale : $16.00 to $19.00 per hour, based on experience. Full-time, non-exempt position subject to overtime and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and retirement.
Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.
