Job Scope :
Supports all mine planning for the Western Hub of Performance Minerals North America.
This role is based in Fernley, NV.
Job Summary :
Responsible for short-term planning, medium-term planning, mine engineering projects, stripping design, mine operations support, and reconciliation support.
Improve Safety by : leading safety presentations, training, preparing best practice guidelines and participating in Safety audits.
Key Tasks and Requirements :
- Surveying : implement survey control where appropriate to ensure strict compliance with mine plan design parameters.
- Design of environmental features such as water ponds / impoundments, regrade slopes
- Design of all mining features such as pits, highwalls, roads / ramps, waste disposal facilities.
- Develop short-term mine plans consistent with medium to long term mine planning objectives.
- Develop short-range engineering plans in support of and consistent with budgets, permits, operational constraints.
- Work with site manager, mine supervisor, and operations personnel to optimize short-term plans.
- Develop standards and methods to document and optimize short term planning.
- Support reconciliation program to document recovery factors in support of resource and reserve reporting, and verification of geologic models.
- Support evaluation of stripping programs and mine development options.
- Support equipment selection, maintenance and fleet scheduling activities.
- Support drill and blast evaluations and performance management.
- Develops and facilitates business improvement project integration

Education / Experience Requirements :
- BS degree in Mine Engineering or other related technical discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Mining Engineering capacity preferred
- Minumum 50% travel to 6 mines
- Competent with various mine planning software Surpac, Deswik and Leapfrog preferred
- Ability to develop and support spreadsheets and databases
- Familiarity with mapping software such as AutoCAD
- Experienced with mining GPS survey systems both roving and equipment-based
- Experience working with and around wireless mesh networks
- Experience working with mining fleet management systems
- Familiarity with geologic and resource modeling processes
Required Activities :
Sitting up to 50% of work time. Standing and walking up to 50% of work time. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work in extreme to moderate outdoor conditions.
