A law firm seeks a highly skilled Insurance Coverage and Defense Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team remotely. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in insurance coverage matters, including handling first- and third-party cases and uninsured / underinsured motorist claims (UM / UIM).
This role offers the opportunity to work from home while occasionally traveling to fulfill job requirements. The attorney will manage a diverse caseload, provide litigation support, and work with other legal professionals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage a caseload of insurance coverage disputes, focusing on first- and third-party matters and UM / UIM claims.
- Conduct detailed reviews and analyses of complex insurance policies, evaluating coverage issues and providing sound legal advice.
- Represent clients in litigation, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and preparing motions for hearings and trials.
- Attend mediations, depositions, and court proceedings as needed to support defense strategies.
- Provide counsel to clients on insurance law developments and legal strategies to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to prepare for hearings, trials, and negotiations.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case status and potential outcomes.
- Travel occasionally to meet case requirements or attend court proceedings.
Position Requirements :
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a litigation attorney with a strong focus on insurance coverage and defense.
- Proven experience handling insurance coverage matters, including first- and third-party claims and UM / UIM disputes.
- Familiarity with both remote work environments and in-person appearances, with a willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to draft complex legal documents.
- Excellent research and analytical abilities, particularly in interpreting insurance policies and evaluating coverage issues.
Educational and Certification Requirements :
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Certifications or coursework in insurance law or litigation (preferred but not required).
Skills and Competencies :
- Strong legal research and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload remotely with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail in legal analysis and case documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain client relationships and collaborate with legal teams.
- Proficient in legal software, case management systems, and remote work technologies.
