Overview
The Director of Development must have a passion for the mission of UnityPoint Health. Will work with the Foundation's team with special responsibilities for planning and implementing a program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors with the ability to make major annual gifts, special project gifts and planned gifts directed to the mission of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines.
The director's success is dependent on the ability to build new and foster existing relationships.

Responsibilities
In conjunction with the UnityPoint Health - Des Moines Foundation President, develop and implement an annual and multi-year development plan.
- Plan and implement program of annual and major gifts, using staff / volunteers where appropriate.
- In that program, identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective annual and major donors.
- Structure major prospect identification process, including the use of web-based resources.
- Organize a cultivation program of annual and major donors using a variety of methods including personal visits, involving other staff, administration, current donors, and friends.
- Meet fundraising targets established annually; based on industry benchmarks and tracked in enterprise foundation data base.
- Participate as a full member of the Foundation team in planning, organizing, coordinating, and attending annual fundraising activities and events.
- Coordinate conversations around planned giving to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward future and planned gifts.

Education :
Bachelor's Degree
Experience :
Three years' experience in charitable philanthropic work (including annual gifts experience) or sales / marketing background or significant volunteer work with non-profits during their fundraising programs and / or campaigns.
License(s) / Certification(s) :
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Exceptional writing and communications skills essential.
- Ability to work evening and weekend events is expected.
