Summary

The Advanced Energy Delivery Technology Solutions (AEDTS) team at Portland General Electric plays a crucial role in advancing our clean energy future through smart grid technology.

We operate in two key areas :

1. Horizontal : Serving enterprise-wide needs with AWS Cloud Data Lake, API management, data science, applications, and data products.

2. Vertical : Supporting specific AED applications like the Outage Management System (OMS) and ARCOS Callout System.

This dual approach enables the team to drive PGE's goals of decarbonization, electrification, and operational efficiency across the organization while also maintaining critical systems for reliable service delivery.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Business Systems Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve in the "horizontal" space as the primary liaison between business users and the technical team.

This role involves shaping the data products to meet business needs, translating business requirements into user stories, and prioritizing these stories for implementation.

The Business Systems Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring that the final product aligns with business objectives and user expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Business Systems Analyst (P2)

Business Analysis : (BUAN) Investigates operational needs, problems, and opportunities, contributing to the recommendation of improvements in automated and nonautomated components of new or changed processes and organization.

Assists in defining acceptance tests for these recommendations.

Requirements Definition and Management (REQM) : Defines scope and business priorities for small-scale changes and may assist in larger-scale scoping exercises.

Elicits and discovers requirements from operational management and other stakeholders. Selects appropriate techniques for the elicitation of detailed requirements considering the nature of the required changes, established practice and the characteristics and culture of those providing the requirements.

Specifies and documents business requirements as directed, ensuring traceability back to source. Analyzes them for adherence to business objectives and for consistency, challenging positively as appropriate.

Works with stakeholders to prioritize requirements.

Customer Service Support (CSSUP) : Responds to common requests for service by providing information to enable fulfilment.

Promptly allocates unresolved calls as appropriate. Maintains records, informs users about the process, and advises relevant persons of actions taken.

Sales Support (SSUP) : Communicates effectively with clients by telephone and in person. Assists in the provision of customer service, including technical advice and guidance on matters bearing on the successful use of products and services.

Assists in devising solutions to client requirements and solves straightforward problems.

Business Systems Analyst (P3)

Business Analysis (BUAN) : Investigates operational requirements, problems and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and nonautomated components of new or changed processes.

Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, and identifies options for consideration.

Works iteratively with stakeholders, to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration, and in defining acceptance tests.

Requirements Definition and Management (REQM) : Facilitates scoping and business priority setting for change initiatives of medium size and complexity.

Contributes to selection of the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative, ensuring traceability back to source.

Discovers and analyzes requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate.

Obtains formal agreement by stakeholders and recipients to scope and requirements and establishes a baseline on which delivery of a solution can commence.

Manages requests for and the application of changes to baselined requirements. Identifies the impact on business requirements of interim (e.

g., migration) scenarios as well as the required end position.

Consultancy (CNSL) : Takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.

Identifies, evaluates and recommends options, implementing if required. Collaborates with, and facilitates stakeholder groups, as part of formal or informal consultancy agreements.

Seeks to fully address client needs, enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of client personnel, by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately exploited.

Business Process Improvement (BPRE) : Analyzes business processes; identifies alternative solutions, assesses feasibility, and recommends new approaches.

Contributes to evaluating the factors which must be addressed in the change program. Helps establish requirements for the implementation of changes in the business process.

Outcomes and Benefits Tracking : Works with business stakeholders to define the targeted metrics. Monitor existing metrics and develop and propose new metrics towards tracking benefits and outcomes.

Education Requires a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, management or other related field or equivalent experience.

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity.

While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
