Associate Laboratory Technician

Job Summary : This individual will be responsible for performing the technical aspects of assigned tests in compliance with GLP, USDA and AAALAC guidelines.

Essential Job Functions :

• Performs various tests that may include injections, patching and wrapping, implantation of test substances, observations, necropsies and withdrawing and collecting bodily fluids, following internal SOP / protocol guidelines.
• Handles animals humanely.
• Prepares animals for testing, which may include shaving, weighing, identifying and anesthetizing the animals.
• Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
• Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
• Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
• May be required to work Holidays and weekends.
• May be required to work overtime.
• Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
• Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Other duties as assigned.

May be required to assist in other departments.

Requirements

Job Requirements :

Experience / Education

• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Animal Science background
• GLP / GMP experience
• Associates Degree or equivalent
• CVT certification preferred
• AALAS certification preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

• Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
• Need to be able to read, write and understand English
• Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements :

• Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to animals / bio hazards / chemical
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
• Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Clarity of vision
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors
• Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
• Ability to lift 25 lbs routinely / often / occasionally
• Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach
• Ability to push / pull 25 lbs routinely / often occasionally
• Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
• Inside working conditions
• Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
