POSITION : HVN Lead Airport Maintenance Tech Landside (Full-Time)
REPORTS TO : Maintenance Supervisor
LOCATION : HVN - New Haven, Connecticut
AIRPORT : Tweed-New Haven Airport
The Lead Airport Maintenance Technician Tech - Landside is a component of the Maintenance Department that drives the directives of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor in the day-to-day operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include and not limited to the following :
- Able to work autonomously with and without direction from immediate supervisor or other Airport Management.
- Performs multiple tasks relative to airport maintenance including painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical and mechanical work.
- Operates all airport heavy equipment, grass cutting equipment and snow removal equipment.
- Complete routine and non-routine landscaping tasks, mowing landside grass area and removing weeds and debris from landside facilities other areas utilizing airport landscaping tools and equipment.
- Perform routine safety inspections of grounds and facilities and take action to eliminate potential hazards.
- Maintain equipment and work environment in a clean, neat and orderly condition.
- Assists in crowd control and other special function requirements.
- Assists in custodial cleanup of airport.
- Utilize a two-way radio to communicate with other airport personnel.
- Employee uniform shall be maintained and properly worn while on duty.
- Position involves shift work and mandatory overtime.
- Performs other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Airport Management.

EDUCATION
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three years landscape maintenance or related experience. Electrical license certification highly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in a one-on-one situation or a small group of customers, clients and to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
A knowledge of the methods, equipment, materials of ground maintenance. Ability to perform assigned duties without supervision. Ability to keep records.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN VALID CONNECTICUT MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR'S LICENSE
