Project Accountant

National Roofing is searching for a Project Accountant. This person will be detail oriented and proactive. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting and construction billing practices.

The Project Accountant will work closely with internal partners to ensure accuracy in project budgets, records, and billing.

Duties & Responsibilities Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project Review Account totals related to project assets and expenses Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management Report on project profitability to management Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings Report to management regarding the remaining funding available for projects Create project-related billings to customers Investigate all projects expenses not billed to customers Respond to requests for more detail from customers Approve the write-off of any project-related billings that cannot be billed to or collected from customers Close out project accounts upon project completion Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects Review budgets, including staffing, work plans, and fee structures Provide project managers and clients with timely financial reports and budgets, as well as project forecasts Provide analysis to management after project completion on overrun, budget variance patterns, and other data to improve future estimating and project management Prepare billing reports for project managers to review Prepare actual costs, working capital, and tax reports Monitor receivable income and collections Ensur e a steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices in a timely manner Update statement of work according to client requirements and report associated budget amendments Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent 2-5 years’ experience as a project accountant, or similar Proficient in electronic accounting systems Ability to report to the Controller Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets, financial forecasts, and tax reports Extensive experience in project invoicing and billing In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting practices Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration and client services Why Join Us Comprehensive Benefits, including Aflac, 401(K) plan, Life Insurance (we cover the first $10,000 for free), Health, Vision, & Dental Wellness Program, First Stop Health (free for employees who are enrolled in the company’s health insurance plan), Virtual Mental Health Counseling (free for all employees and family members), Gym Reimbursement, and a Financial Wellness Program with Nusenda.
