MANUFACTURING AREA MANAGER
The Manufacturing Area Manager will . . .
Manage the activities of a Manufacturing area (COIL Department) with consideration for the goals and objectives of the department.
Manage day-to-day operations in line with department / area plans, goals, and objectives with a focus on increasing / maintaining employee engagement and morale.
- Maintain knowledge of the existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems and process control techniques.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment, and process and maintenance technologies. Work with the personnel, systems, and equipment to achieve and / or maintain desired work center performance.
- Define and communicate performance expectations for personnel and coach and counsel them in the performance of job responsibilities.
Manage to the area’s budget developed by Department Manager.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required for the Manufacturing Area Manager :
- Four-year college degree preferred. High School Diploma required.
- 2+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or Manufacturing Support Specialist. Metals industry preferred.
- Experience with evaluating and recommending new equipment and process and maintenance technologies. Strong project management skills.
- Strong working experience with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Proven coaching, facilitation, and organizational skills with a track record of successful change management. Must be proactive, creative and a hands-on change agent with the ability to objectively evaluate performance, train and develop others.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment under frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
- Self-started who can creatively drive continuous improvement on their own initiative with minimal guidance.
