Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Prospect Research & Management, the Prospect Research Manager identifies, researches, and analyzes information on prospective major donors and leads the project management of the capital campaign feasibility study to report the campaign recommendations to internal and external constituencies.
The Manager will serve as the primary contact and provide research support to the Development team for Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU), Oregon campus.
The Prospect Research Manager qualifies and screens potential donors, and proactively identifies new prospective major and principal gift donor to enhance moves management.

1. Demonstrated ability in research techniques such as prospect identification, data mining, and relationship mapping.2. Familiarity with moves management, the donor and gift lifecycle, push technology resources and electronic screening tools.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to analyze, interpret, synthesize, and present complex information effectively.
4. Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
5. Experience with fundraising databases such as Raiser’s Edge or other donor databases, reporting and visualization tools (e.
g. Cognos, Tableau), and online information and screening services such as Lexis Nexis, Sorkins, FoundationSearch, ResearchPoint, etc.
6. Knowledge of best practices in database management. 7. Professionalism handling confidential donor and prospect information.
8. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Office 365, including OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
Required Qualifications EXPERIENCE : Two years’ experience in Prospect Research or in the Advancement field, preferably in an academic setting.
Experience with Wealth Screenings using ResearchPoint, DonorSearch, or other wealth screening tools. Raiser’s Edge experience or other fundraising software.
Analytical skills with proven ability to perform complex analyses using data mining techniques to identify philanthropic patterns and tendencies in the constituent database.
EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred. Prepares written profiles, ratings, and qualified lists as necessary to support the strategic fundraising efforts of WesternU.
Acts as a strategic partner and pro-actively provides data-informed recommendations regarding next steps to development team.
Consistently activates the central part of the fundraising plan by proactively moving forward the steps each development officer should take at each stage of the donor and gift lifecycle by conducting regular strategy sessions and measuring progress to goals.
Proactively researches social media, business journals, newspapers, and other printed and web-based publications to keep profiles up to date as news occurs.
Proactively tracks and disseminates donor and prospect-related information. Tracks research findings in CRM system and assists with organization-wide efforts to acquire and maintain institutional data according to best practices in data management.
Percentage Of Time 60 Job Duty Participates in the development and implementation of a stewardship and fundraising plan.
Participates as a member of the Advancement Information Services team by attending monthly staff meetings. Provides support by designing, revising, and maintaining adherence protocols for the sharing of information regarding donors and prospects, and informing solicitors regarding donor and prospects status changes.
Maintains proficiency with standard prospect research resources (electronic, print and other) and stays abreast of new resources and technologies by adhering to ethical and confidentiality guideline.
