SafeSplash® Swim School in Arlington and Grand Prairie, TX is hiring for safe , dedicated , responsible and consistent individual for the role of SWIM INSTRUCTORS! We are looking for exceptional individuals who are reliable , willing to be trained, a self starter and stick to a schedule .
You must be a competent swimmer , PASSIONATE about working with the public, especially CHILDREN in the arena of SWIMMING.
We are a drug free workplace, and we perform pre-hiring and annual drug tests and criminal background checks.
As a Swim Instructor, you are responsible for teaching life-saving swimming skills to students in accordance with SafeSplash® curriculum in a fun, positive manner exhibiting safety is the upmost importance.
You will be in charge of classes with students ranging from infants to adults; you class sizes will vary from 3 students to 4 students in a class.
In each class, you will also evaluate each student's performance during swim sessions, provide feedback to parents / guardians, complete attendance, progress, accident reports, and ensure that all swimming aids and equipment are in good working order.
The swim instructor's role also calls you to teach and assist students with special needs to learn and socialize with other students.
To be successful as a swim instructor, you should demonstrate patience and enthusiasm and be able to motivate students to accomplish their swimming goals, as well as establish and maintain a great partnership with parents.
Ultimately, an exceptional swim instructor should be able to teach all levels in the SafeSplash Swim School program. They should also be able to communicate effectively with students, parents / guardians, to ensure that all water safety rules are adhered to.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES :
- Teach swimming skills in accordance with SafeSplash® curriculum and stay current on any changes, including training and certifications as they arise.
- Planning swimming lessons that take into account students' abilities and progressive development.
- Time organization to ensure each class starts and ends timely.
- Structure class times appropriately to incorporate repetition, reinforcement, and introduction of required skills.
- Provide continuous individualized feedback on swimmer's progress after each swimming lesson to students and families on their swimming efforts.
- Create lasting relationships with students and partner with each student and parents to solicit feedback on areas of focus.
- Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly.
- Ensure swimmer safety by monitoring students and pool deck area to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Complete skill tracking updates on a weekly basis in the iClassPro system.
- Attend required continuous training efforts for performance improvement or update curriculum requirements.
- Maintain proper SafeSplash® uniform standards outlined in the employee handbook and communicated by your manager.
KEY REQUIREMENTS :
- Strong swimming abilities; must be able to demonstrate swimming strokes.
- Consistent work schedule on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and / or Fridays from afternoon into evening shifts (4 : 00PM to 8 : 00PM);
must be able to stick to a schedule and must be willing to work Saturday mornings (9 : 00AM to 2 : 00PM).
- Must have or obtain CPR, EAD & First Aid, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor AND / OR Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) certifications within 30 days of being hired through the Red Cross.
- Passionate about working with the public, especially children in the arena of swimming; must be comfortable interacting with children, teens, adults, including those with special needs.
- Demonstrate exceptional attendance and reliability; must have reliable transportation to attend all shifts.
- Effective communication skills.
- Trainable, creative, and willing to follow directions.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Adhere to all safety policy requirements.
- Report time worked accurately and on time by clocking into system and on-site log.
- A minimum of 1 year working or volunteering with children (teaching) preferred.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds in weight.
JOB CONDITIONS :
- Speaking to students of all ages.
- Constant movement in water.
- Standing and walking for an extended period of time in water.
- Setting up and breaking down pool equipment before and after lessons.
- Some light deck cleaning duties.
