$50,000.00 to $60,000.00 / year

Position Summary & Responsibilities :
Position Summary :
The Community Development Specialist is a critical role for place-based community development which is essential to engage Kansas communities, retention in workforce and youth, and the development of communities where companies want to do business.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following :
- Manage an overall strategy for placemaking and activating public spaces through a variety of tools such as public art, landscaping, furnishings, wayfinding, recreation, public markets, tourism, culture, games, events, and signage
- Complete at least one placemaking project per region (eight regions) each year
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications :
- Possess a bachelor’s degree
- Have 5 or more years of experience in planning, community development, grant writing, evaluation, or project management
- Hold and maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License
- Be able to travel from assigned workstation 80% of the time and stay overnight as needed
- Work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in planning, community development, grant writing, evaluation, or project management
