SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the overall appearance and functionality of Marrakech properties. This includes interior and exterior upkeep and ensuring the sites are visually appealing internally and externally.

This position combines construction management expertise with a strong understanding of interior design principles. Oversees residential and / or commercial renovation projects from inception to completion as well as property donations and distribution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Capital Improvement and Development Projects

  • Work with Marrakech Team and Capital Improvement Committee to prioritize projects and secure resources.
  • Collaborate with designers, architects, and engineers to translate design plans into actionable construction phases.
  • Coordinate the bid process including developing the scope of work and scheduling the site visit with contractors.
  • Organize all phases of construction, subcontracting contract development, and construction schedule with project deliverables and milestones, billing, and project closeouts.
  • Oversee the performance of the general contractor, site manager, and other members of the construction team and ensure quality control and safety compliance.
  • Manage project budgets and timeliness, ensuring on-time and on-budget project completion.
  • Assist with material selection and procurement, keeping an eye on design aesthetics and functionality.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to maintain high-quality standards and identify potential issues early on. If issues are discovered, propose creative solutions to address the problem while maintaining design intent and budget.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and provide progress reports to capital improvement committee and executive team, keeping them informed throughout the project.
  • Maintain a database of current licenses and certificates of insurance for contractors who are awarded projects.

Aesthetic Design / Property Beautification

Interior Design related to construction

  • Develop interior design concepts that align with project goals and program needs.
  • Ensure seamless integration of interior design elements into construction plans.
  • Select materials, finishes, and furnishings that meet project requirements.
  • Manage interior design budgets and timelines.
  • Oversee installation and coordination of interior design elements.

Interior Design related to site beautification

  • Assess Marrakech-owned and rented properties and determine if any upgrades and / or beautification projects are needed.
  • Develop a catalog of equipment, supplies, décor, and furnishings that managers can choose from.
  • Provide samples, specs, and / or links to items to guide managers on purchases or ordering / purchasing items on behalf of the manager.
  • Schedule and participate in onsite meetings / walkthroughs with vendors who are involved in the beautification process.
  • Schedule contractors as needed to perform carpentry work related to interior design projects.

Manage Furniture Donations

  • In collaboration with the Development Team, create systems for donations of items including item acceptance, finding homes for the donations, arranging for pick up, drop offs, and distributions.
  • Develop a plan for storing donations not being used immediately.
  • Work with the Development Team to ensure thank you notes are processed and donations are advertised as appropriate on social media.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Interior Design, or related field or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or renovation project management.

Combination of related experience and education also accepted. Experience with interior design or a strong portfolio demonstrating design skills required.

Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, building codes, regulations, and industry standards. The candidate must have the strategic acumen of a construction project manager and the creative flair of an interior designer and property manager.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid State of Connecticut Driver’s License

SALARY

$26.23 / hr increasing to $28.85 / hr after completion of 6 month introductory period. Paid time off (PTO) and Dedicated Sick Time.
