POSITIONSUMMARY : Analyze specimens according to sectionprocedures and policies, ensuring the appropriateness of thesample.
Accurately apply the test procedures, confirm unusualresults, and reviews and reports all results according tolaboratory policy to enable clinicians to perform accurate patientassessments.
Requirements
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION : Bachelor's Degreerequired in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalentrequired.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSES : CLS (NCA), MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification asa medical technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist asrequired.
Graduates who are Registry eligible may be considered foremployment, prior to receiving ASCP or equivalent certification.
Must meet CLIA '88 requirements for performing high complexitytesting as defined in the Federal Register, Vol. 57; , Subpart493.1489.
SKILLS :
- Must read and write English and be able to communicateeffectively
- Laboratory equipment operationskills required.
EXPERIENCE : Prefer one yearof general laboratory experience.

Responsible to : Laboratory Director
ENVIRONMENT :
Bloodborne pathogen A( Routine exposure risk. Routine exposure in dailyduties. Exposed to potentially infectious material on a regularbasis and is part of the expected job task.)
Maybe required to wear gloves, laboratory coat, facemask, goggles.Exposed to carcinogenic, hazardous and flammable chemicals,biohazardous and radioactive materials, sharp needles and blades,infectious specimens, toxic fumes and mental stress.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : May berequired to work more than a standard shift as dictated byworkload, staffing, and equipment failure.
Standing, sitting,and / or ambulating for the entire shift assigned. Prefer the abilityto move Laboratory supplies and equipment up to 50pounds.
