Job Summary

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Configuration Management Engineer to join our team and take ownership of implementing and maintaining effective configuration management processes.

As a Configuration Management Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and scalability of our systems and applications.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline the configuration management lifecycle and ensure consistent and efficient delivery of software and infrastructure changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement configuration management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable software and infrastructure deployments.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to define and enforce configuration management standards.
• Design and maintain configuration management tools, systems, and processes to automate the deployment, configuration, and management of software and infrastructure components.
• Lead the identification, tracking, and control of configuration items, including software, hardware, documentation, and related assets.
• Manage and maintain configuration management databases (CMDB) and version control systems to effectively track and control changes.
• Implement and maintain automated build, release, and deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git, or other industry-standard tools.
• Monitor and analyze configuration management metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with established standards.
• Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of configuration management data and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve configuration-related issues and provide technical support as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging configuration management technologies, tools, and best practices.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven work experience as a Configuration Management Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of configuration management principles and best practices.
• Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.
• Experience with CMDB databases like Service Now.
• Proficiency in scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, SVN, or TFS.
• Solid understanding of CI / CD concepts and tools, such as Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
• Relevant certifications, such as Certified Configuration Manager (CCM) or ITIL Foundation.
