As an ICS & EBS PLC Maintenance Technician, you play a key role in the operations and maintenance of the baggage handling system at the LAX TBIT terminal, focusing on ICS and EBS systems in the tunnel, MSC, and NBHS area.

You will carry out emergency response maintenance, inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, and other specialized electro-mechanical maintenance activities on site.

You will handle errors in the system, resolve jams, and perform manual encoding and load correction operations. You ensure complicated errors on mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, and basic PLC levels are resolved quickly and sustainably, keeping the systems in optimal condition.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities :

  • Solve errors on electrical and mechanical fields as well as basic PLC level in automated handling systems.
  • Perform basic PLC and VFD diagnostics, adjust settings / parameters, and manage version control and backups.
  • Carry out electrical-mechanical and PLC-related inspections, corrective and preventive maintenance, as well as emergency maintenance, including researching and requesting spare parts.
  • Follow and execute troubleshooting and maintenance activities according to diagrams, electrical drawings, O&M manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Report and administer carried out operations and maintenance activities, including service reports, parts usage, and warranty records.
  • Resolve manual coding issues on bags and ensure proper loading of bags into the system.
  • Respond to service call-outs, error notifications, alarms, warnings, and complaints.
  • Report problems / maintenance activities that need attention.
  • Clear bag jams to restore operations and correct system functioning as soon as possible.
  • Work safely and promote a safe working environment, complying with Lock-Out / Tag-Out procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the system and surrounding floor space.
  • Advise and execute optimization of (sub) systems after consulting the supervisor.
  • Support the overall team by helping out or filling in for colleagues within the O&M team.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum associates / 2-year college degree in electro-mechanical education or affiliated fields.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in electro-mechanical maintenance.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with CMMS systems, preferably Maximo.

Other Requirements :

  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge, Customs Seal, and Airport Driving icon.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :

Full-time position; 24 / 7 operation; 3 shifts; overtime, weekend, and holiday work is common.

Travel :

This position might require international travel for training / education.

Supervisory Responsibility :

This role has no supervisory responsibility.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate information. The specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is frequently required to climb, reach, sit, and access confined spaces, and must frequently lift objects of up to 50lbs.

Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.

The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to aircraft engines and equipment.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, eligible for an hourly rate and participation in an annual performance bonus program.

The hourly rate listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting.

Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.

The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate-dependent.

Hourly rate : $38.00
