TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Requires handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and hand eye coordination.
Involves standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and chemical exposure.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner.
Verifies necessary information for the medical record.
May assist in assembling patient’s charts for the following day’s visits
Assist with pre-operative phone calls / procedure confirmation times
Answers telephones, screens calls, takes messages and provides information to patients as needed. Assists in post procedure screening calls.
Coordinates needs with the Medical Staff (Nurses and Physicians)
Provides technical assistance in endoscopy procedures. Replenishes supplies used in patient care.
Communicates with laboratory and physicians’ offices as needed.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Attends meeting as required.
Prepares and cleans procedure rooms.
Maintains a safe and clean environment.
Cleans and disinfects patient equipment / patient care areas
Cleans and processes endoscopes and documents appropriately on flow sheets.
Facilitates patient check out. Escorts patients to exit
Maintains departmental policies and procedures Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliation.
Performs related work as required.
EXPERIENCE : 2 years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician and or Surgical Technician
LICENSE : CPR Certificate
ALTERNATIVE TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Additional appropriate education.
