Responsibilities :
- Treat and vaccinate milking cows and heifers.
- Find and efficiently handle, trim, and treat lame cows.
- Assist with breeding and hormone injections as outlined in Breeding Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain accurate data collection through proper computer use and AFI system maintenance, including tag maintenance.
- Perform "Fresh Check" on Special Needs animals with thorough animal evaluations.
- Recognize trends and indicators; proactively address potential problems.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained.
- Champion a best-in-class safety program by attending all safety training, complying with all animal handling programs, using PPE and adhering to all other EHS programs.
Qualifications :
- Experience working with animal production systems.
- Good demonstrated interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills. Spanish language ability strongly preferred.
- Proficient computer skills : ability to learn new systems / technology including Microsoft tools and AFI programs.
- Able to work in the external environmental conditions and work standing for up to 12 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs. and do all the physical activities associated with moving, caring and breeding animals.
- Must be able to accommodate the regular farm schedule , in addition to work nights, weekends and holidays, per business needs.
